Bio

Dr. Vicky O’Rourke is a Senior Lecturer for Research Development at the Faculty of Business, Atlantic Technological University, Donegal. She is joint Course Director for a unique cross border Executive Education Masters programme, delivered jointly by Atlantic Technological University and Ulster University: the MSc in Leadership and Innovation in the Public Sector. Vicky received her Doctorate in Education from Queen’s University, Belfast and she also holds a Masters by Research from Letterkenny Institute of Technology. Vicky is a qualified Action Learning Set Facilitator, learning by doing and critical reflection underpin her approaches to education.

Research Innovation & Engagement

Vicky’s research interests include marketing innovations, advertising literacy and marketing ethics. Vicky has authored academic papers, presented at academic conferences, and worked on various funded research projects. Recently, her research activities focus on enabling children to become critical consumers of marketing communications, promoting children’s rights and wellbeing. Currently she is lead researcher on an Erasmus+ KA2 project, Minding Media, this project seeks to promote advertising literacy amongst children aged 8-12. Vicky acts as a research supervisor on a number of Masters programmes including Masters by Research, MSc Marketing Practice, MSc Management Practice, MBS Innovation and Leadership (Executive Ed.) and MSc Innovation and Leadership in the Public Service (Executive Ed.). She also supervises Ph.D students. From time to time, Vicky provides consultancy services to the private, public and third sector.

Interested in working on: research projects in the areas of innovation, media literacies, and consumer behaviour. She is particularly interested in supervising mixed method research projects, and action learning research projects.
