My tertiary-level education qualifications include an MBA (strategic competitiveness) and BA from DCU and a PhD in Education (my doctoral thesis was focused on organisational creativity and innovation in higher education) from the University of Lincoln. From October 2023 to January 2025, I worked as a seconded national expert at the European Commission agency for equality (EIGE) based in Vilnius Lithuania. There I managed a major Cyber trust and safety research project across the 27 member states and disseminated this research at the European Parliament in Strasbourg and at numerous other events in Brussels and across Europe. Further expertise lies in fostering creativity and strategic innovation, in supporting postgraduate research in higher education and in championing gender equality in leadership, entrepreneurial policy and funding.
At Atlantic Futures ’Shared Island’ research consortium, I focus on research exploring gender inequity in entrepreneurship across borders.
My recent secondment as a National Expert at the European Institute for Gender Equality focused on humanitarian and equality research project management. It has led to the development of several policy briefs and a measurement framework which can be used by EU member states to combat cyber crimes against women, setting new comparable EU-wide standards. This tenure required strong project management skills and diplomacy, to support the synchronisation of collaborative international efforts against cyber violence.
Previous studies explored creativity and innovation in higher education and equality in Irish political representation.
