Bio

Dr. Isobel Cunningham is a lecture in Entrepreneurship and Innovation and has been teaching at ATU since 2015. Previously Isobel taught at Dublin City University, Ulster University and University of Derby. Isobel returned to full time education after spending 5 years performing with Riverdance – The Show throughout Europe and Asia. She completed a BA Hons and MSc in International Business at Ulster University. Isobel completed her Ph.D. in 2013 again at Ulster University. Her Ph.D. title is “Evolution and Formation of Entrepreneurial Founding Teams in the Video Games Industry”.

Collaborating with local businesses, particular interest in female entrepreneurs and creative entrepreneurs.

Research & Engagement

She is particularly interested in female entrepreneurs and creative entrepreneurs. Her research interest spans these areas along with a keen research interest in the area of dynamic capabilities, entrepreneurial ecosystems, the formation and evolution of start-ups and student entrepreneurship. Isobel has published numerous conference and journal papers in this domain and received a Highly Commended Award at the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence. Isobel is currently active in a number of Shared Island projects (over €4m) in the area of female entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship and Innovation and Erasmus + projects in the area of student entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial ecosystems. Isobel collaborates with many local businesses in development and innovation processes. Isobel is actively involved in many cross border research projects in conjunction with Ulster University.
